Access Statement
Introduction
We are a tourism based family Partnership housed in converted,
Grade 2 Listed, Georgian farm buildings comprising Tearoom/Restaurant,
Craft Shop, Craft Workshop and Four Star (Gold) Guest Accommodation.
The Partners are Maureen Holmes, Chris Brealey and Sally
Brealey. We are located on Bainton Roundabout at the junction
of the A614, B1248 and B1246 five miles west of the market
town of Driffield in the East Riding of Yorkshire.
The whole site covers some six acres of which nearly five
are car park, woodland and landscaped areas
Pre-Arrival
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
- The
Entrance and Car Park are off the B1248 just north of Bainton
roundabout
- The
tarmac Car Park has designated spaces for 40 cars inc. 2
for disabled use
- There
is a small area for overflow and staff cars which has a
hard core base
- Limited
parking is available in front of the Accommodation building
on gravel
Main Entrance & Reception
- The
property has two Courtyards.
- The
east one houses Restaurant, Shop and Workshop and is accessed
directly from the Car Park down three steps or by a ramp
- The
west one houses the Guest Accommodation and has road access
from the Car Park
- The
main Reception is at the Guest Accommodation but anyone
wanting Shop or Restaurant should go there directly
Public Areas - General (Internal)
- The
Restaurant has five eating areas all at ground level with
one level access
- The
Shop has 3 rooms at ground level and one accessed by a stairway
- The
Accommodation has 3 rooms at ground level and four accessed
by a stairway designed for ambulant disabled.
- The
Edwardian Room on the ground floor is a twin room equiped
for disabled use
Public Areas - WC
- The
WC block is situated next to the Restaurant in the east
courtyard
- The
floor is ceramic tiled and all at one level, walls are emulsion
painted
- Male,
Female and Disabled facilities are provided.
- A Baby
Changing facility is in the Female WC area
- Accommodation
rooms all have their own WC facilities
Art Gallery
- The
art gallery is all at ground level with one level access
from the East Courtyard
- The
floor is ceramic tiled and all at one level, walls are emulsion
painted.
- There
is both natural & atificial lighting
Restaurant / Dining Room & Bar
- The
Restaurant/Tearoom comprises five rooms - Conservatory,
Well Room, Scullery, Archway and Dining Room
- The
bar is licensed to sell wines, beers and spirits when having
a meal. The Licensee is Chris Brealey
Booking is advisable for lunch time and evenings.
- The
Conservatory, Archway and Dining Room have good natural
light. The Scullery and Well Room have artificial lighting
to give a warm, cosy effect. The rooms are candle lit in
the evening.
- Flooring
is all one level and is a mixture of stone slabs or varnished
boards
- The
furniture is movable and can be arranged to suit parties
or wheelchairs
- Service
is Waitress service at table. Tables can be pre booked.
- Guests
wait to be seated and consideration is given their abilities
when selecting their seating
- The
menus are printed in English and encapsulated. They give
a list of the available meals with prices. Meals are based
on English Country Cuisine. The evening menu is a la carte.
- Particular
dietary needs can be accommodated - some may require notice
- Help
is available from staff if anyone has difficulty reading
a menu
- The
till has a visible display and can supply an itemised bill
if requested
Laundry
Shop
- The
Craft shop comprises three rooms at ground level selling
a range of bought in giftware.
- In
addition some 80 local craftspeople use our shop to sell
their hand made products on a commission basis.
- One
room on the first floor level, accessed by a stairway, displays
reproduction and antique furniture and giftware
- All
goods have bar coded price labels and assistance is available
from staff in case of difficulties in selecting goods or
reading prices.
- The
till has a visible display and gives an itemised list of
purchases
- Payment
can be made with cash, card or cheque
Outdoor Facilities
- The
east courtyard is used for al fresco dining when weather
permits
- The
west courtyard has a Gazebo for use by guests using the
Accommodation
- There
is a short walk in the woodland surrounding the Car Park
Bedrooms
- The
Accomodation has a four star, gold, rating.
- There
are seven en-suite luxury bedrooms - five doubles and two
twin. The room rate is £90 for double occupancy and
£65 single. Prices include full Yorkshire breakfast.
The single rate does not apply at weekends when the rate
is £90.
- Each
room has a bath with a shower over it
- Each
one is decorated in a historical theme:- the Gothic, Tudor,
Victorian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco are double rooms and
the Georgian and Edwardian are twin rooms.
- All
have smoke detection and alarm sounders
- Special
care is taken to note guests with disabilities when letting
rooms so that assistance can be given in an emergency
- One
room, the Edwardian on the ground floor, is equiped for
disabled use
Additional Information
- The
whole complex is attractively laid out and maintained to
a high standard and is located in a delightful, unspoilt
corner of the Yorkshire Wolds.
